Indian Amber

1993 Sorrel Tobiano APHA Registered Paint Mare

Own daughter of Indians Image and out of a Champion Running Mare. She's a 1D barrel producer and the dam of an Australian National Champion Dressage horse! Blue hen female family too.

Amber is another mare we never thought we'd ever consider selling. She has been a consistent producer of good looking foals that are very classy movers. Every foal she has had for us has sold quickly and easily and they go on to be successful for their new owners. We have made some great friends selling this mare's foals and I don't know what more you can ask of a horse.

Frankly, she's one of those mares with a truly great pedigree that really out-produces herself. She's not the fanciest looking mare we own, but her foals have been some of the best. See photos below and on our Sold Horses page and our 2009 Foals page.

In short, her first foal was a 1D barrel horse in both of his first two races - in Oklahoma. Our first foal out of her, Lookin Treasured, went to Australia as a weanling and is now their Paint National Champion in Dressage and Hunter Hack as a four year old. He's standing to full books and getting started on barrels. Of course we are biased, but we think he's possibly the nicest homozygous stallion in the world. Her next foal for us was Raise A Look who is already showing successfully in Virginia for his new owner Teresa Glass of Glassview Farm. He will also be standing to the public.

Amber is very nice to handle and have around. She's not aggressive at all with other horses - maybe even a little too polite at feeding time. Otherwise, she's been a very low maintenance mare. If they were all like Amber, this business would be easy. She's very easy and trouble-free to breed and foal. She is bred to Don't Doc 108 for a 2011 foal. Her new home will be a very good one or she will stay here.

What makes a mare such a great producer? There is a difference and her pedigree will tell you what it is. Sure, Indians Image is a Leading Sire of both runners and broodmares. He's a well-established barrel sire and sire of an APHA World Champion barrel horse. But it's her bottom side pedigree that is so remarkable. Her dam was a Champion Runner. Her 2nd dam was one of the APHA's four established blue hen mares. Look of Dreams was the dam of 3 Champions and one of her daughters was the dam of yet another. That's the difference.
